However, dont forget the many design and copy sins that we talked about:

  • Dont abuse images dont rely on a single large image or lots of small images. Use text/HTML instead of including everything in images.
  • Avoid spammy copy dont use spammy words, avoid spelling/grammar issues, and dont abuse punctuation/emojis.
  • Avoid unnecessary attachments dont send attachments unless theyre absolutely necessary.
  • Make sure to add sender information for marketing emails, make sure to include your physical address and accurate sender information.
  • Only link to reputable sites dont do anything that could be construed as tricking people into clicking links that they didnt intend to visit.

Report Emails As Not Spam

1. Go to the Gmail website on a Mac or PC, or open the Gmail app on your phone, and log in to your account, if necessary.

2. Go into the Spam folder and open the email you want to move to your primary inbox.

3. Select Report not spam at the top of the message whether you’re using the desktop website or the mobile app.

4. If this box doesn’t appear on mobile, tap the three dots in the top-right corner and then select Not spam.

After a few instances, this will also teach Gmail not to mark messages like this as spam in the future.

The Recipient List Contains Lots Of Dead Addresses

How old is your list? Where or how did you get it? Are you maintaining it regularly? Did you know those big mail servers like Gmail may flag a message sent to their server after reaching a given error threshold? That means that if your list has what Gmail considers too much dead/invalid addresses, the whole message will be flagged. You should check your list and remove bounces from it! Bounces are those delivery error e-mails you get in your inbox, dont ignore them! Remove the invalid e-mails addresses from the list right away. However, it only applies to businesses falling within specific categories. For businesses to be subject to the CCPAs requirements, only one of the following must apply:

  • The business buys, receives, or sells the personal information of 50,000 or more consumers, households, or devices
  • 50% or more of the businesss annual revenue comes from the sale of consumers personal information
