How To Recognise Spam Emails
Sometimes it is easy to recognise unwanted emails and other times it can be difficult. We have shared four ways you can easily spot unwanted emails:
- SenderOne way to identify spam emails is by looking at who the sender of the email is. If its something along the lines of then its with certainty a junk email.
- SubjectRead the subject of the email and see if you think something is phishy?
- RecipientCheck who the recipient is because many times the spammers send the same email to several recipients.
- ContentFinally, and perhaps the easiest way to recognise unwanted emails is by reading the content of the email. Ask yourself once youve read the content if you really want to fill out a loan without checking the legitimacy of the company or ask yourself if you really did sign up your name in order to win a car? How likely is it that you have won the lottery or is it just another unwanted email? If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.

Spam Filters Make Life Bearable
What does work are good spam filters.
Spam filters work by looking not just at where email comes from, but the nitty-gritty technical details of the email, what its about, what it says and how it says, and how many other people are getting that same email message. If it looks like spam, then the email is simply places in your spam or junk mail folder instead of your inbox.
Of my approximately 150 spams per day, Id say less than 10, maybe even less than 5, actually show up in my inbox.
If you have 300 spam emails arriving in your inbox every day, its almost as if youre not protected by a spam filter at all.
My sense is that Yahoo!s spam filter, while not perfect, is pretty good, and as of recent updates to Yahoo! Mail its always on in fact I cant find a way to turn it off.
Hostgator’s Stance On Spam
Beyond the moral stand we have against spam, we also have a financial incentive to reduce spam on our network since spam takes up resources that cost money, such as bandwidth, disk space, and security administrators’ time. The more spam passing through our system, the higher our costs. From a business standpoint, doing anything that increases spam makes no sense.

Unsubscribe From Unwanted Messages

Many items that we think of as spamsuch as newsletters and emails about dealsdo aim to make your life better. However, these well-intentioned messages add up, cluttering up your inbox until they become stressful. Rather than deleting them en masse, look for unsubscribe links to stop receiving emails from that source.
These links usually appear down at the bottom of an emailbecause most of the time, the sender doesnt really want you to unsubscribe. If you do take time to hunt down these links, they often direct you to a page that asks you to confirm your decision. Once you do so, most sources will respect your wishes and remove you from their mailing lists. For Gmail users, this process is even easier, because if Gmail detects an unsubscribe link in the body text, it displays that link prominently at the top of the email. You can enjoy the same automated action in the Mail app on iOSit will copy any unsubscribe link in the body text and display it at the top of the email, near the toolbar.
Dont Interact With Spam
The less you interact with spam emails the better. Opening, replying to or clicking the links within an email just alerts the spammer to the fact that this is an active account they should continue to inundate with messages. The best thing you can do is to flag these messages using the methods above and to leave it at that.
