For the sake of this article, well use GoDaddy as an example. Just follow the steps below to attach a domain name to your email.

    As previously noted, you automatically get GoDaddys Starter Email package when you sign up for a GoDaddy paid plan. If you want to upgrade to a GoDaddy Business Premium account with Microsoft 365, the process is simple.

    You’ll find four GoDaddy email plans beyond its basic Email Essentials plan: the Email Plus, Business Premium, Online Essentials, and Premium Security plans. The Business Premium plan comes highly recommended for small businesses because it includes access to Microsoft 365 plus all the trimmings to make it easier to run your business and collaborate with partners.

    Next, you’ll need to activate your account and switch to Microsoft 365.

  • Look for an email from GoDaddy inviting you to Please activate your Microsoft 365 account. Select Get Started.
  • In the Email & Office Dashboard, you’ll see a banner informing you that your new email account can’t receive mail yet. Select Let’s fix this.
  • On the Ready to Switch page, select Yes, Switch Now to confirm.
  • Note: It can take up to 48 hours to switch over your email. You’ll continue to receive email at your Workspace account until the switch is complete.

    There are two situations you may not be able to use GoDaddy email. One is that you didnt purchase GoDaddy email plan or you want to use email account on your hosting company. If you dont have GoDaddy email plan then you can setup emails in your hosting cPanel . You may host your GoDaddy domain on another place like SiteGround but still wanted to use GoDaddy email. In this case, follow the below instructions.

    • Go to your GoDaddy account and go to Domain Manager > DNS section.
    • Change your nameservers to the your hosting nameservers. You should get the nameservers detail from the hosting company, it should be like ns1.bluehost.com and ns2.bluehost.com for Bluehost.

    Save your changes. Remember, you site may not be accessible till the time the DNS changes propagate completely. This may take up to 48 hours, but you can continue for email setup on your hosting account.

    • Go to your hosting account and open DNS zone file.
    • Maintain MX and CNAME records as explain above.

    Now, go back to GoDaddy email workspace and try to send a test email to your own email address. You should receive the email after refreshing the page indicating the setup is successful.
