    Forward An Email As Sms

To forward an email as an SMS, you will need to know the email address your carrier uses for this feature. Ill list the ones I know below.

  • Open the email in your client and select Forward.
  • Enter the phone number and the @email address in the To section.
  • Make sure the email content falls within the carriers maximum character limit for SMS.
  • Hit Send.
  • Some carriers have relaxed the maximum character limit for SMS while some have not. If the email contains HTML, hyperlinks, images, video, audio or other rich media, this may not work. It is advisable to strip out any of these before hitting forward to make sure the email is forwarded properly and not corrupted on the journey.

Here are the email addresses for some US carriers. If youre outside the US or yours is not listed, the address should be on the company website.

    Tips When Forwarding Emails

Now that youve learned how to forward emails using three different platforms, you might wonder if theres a set of rules you have to follow. While there are no official guidelines, here are some general tips to help you along:

    • Make sure that forwarding the email is the right move. Before you forward a mail message, make sure whether including the original content in its entirety will be seen as appropriate and valuable.
    • Add a comment. A forwarded mail with no additional message can be confusing. Always include a message to the recipient explaining why theyre receiving this email and what the person should do with the information.
    • Delete unnecessary and sensitive information. Be careful when forwarding a long email thread. It might contain many topics that arent relevant or include sensitive data that the recipient shouldnt see.
    • Take advantage of Bcc. Blind carbon copy recipients wont be able to view other email addresses apart from their own. This feature makes the email cleaner and protects the privacy of everyone involved in the thread.
    • Fix the subject line. You might notice that your email client will add abbreviations like Fw or Fwd into the subject lines of forwarded emails. As the sender, you have the option to delete them or change the subject entirely to make it look more professional.

Six Forwarding Email Etiquette You Should Know

Here are the six forwarding email etiquette you need to consider.

  • Be sure to edit the email before sending it. Your email may contain sensitive data that you do not want to send to anyone else.
  • Before forwarding an email, ask yourself why you need to send its contents to another person or more. It will ensure that you do not forward emails to the wrong persons.
  • No matter how busy you are, be sure to write at least a comment at the top of the forwarding email to the recipient. If you do not have time for that, send the message only when convenient for you.
  • Sometimes the nature of the conversation varies from person to person, so if the content of the message is not in their area, the person you are going to forward the email to may misunderstand it. In such cases, be sure to send the entire email only to the essentials, not to some people.
  • If the content of the email message does not provide any value or information to a third party, it is best not to forward an email.
  • If you are sending an email to a group of strangers, put your email address in the To field and all other email addresses in the BCC field. Doing so can protect recipients email addresses from being leaked to strangers.
  • Forward An Email As An Attachment

    How To Forward an Email

First, open your web browser on your Windows 10 PC or Mac and log in to your Gmail account. Next, locate the email youd like to send as an attachment and select it by clicking the box to the left of the sender and subject line. You can select one or multiple emails.

Once youve selected all the emails youd like to send as attachments, click the More icon, which appears as three vertical dots.

From the drop-down menu that appears, click Forward As Attachment.

The New Message window will now appear with the previously selected emails attached as EML files.

Compose the email by adding the recipient, giving the email a subject, and typing out your message in the body.

Once ready, click the Send button.

The email with the attached emails will now be sent to the recipient.

Forward Only Part Of An Email Chain In Outlook

Outlook is another incredibly popular email app that is used a lot in business. Since companies are the culprits of long email chains the most, I would be remiss if I did not include them here. If you are using Outlook, you must configure conversation grouping before you can forward an individual message.

In Outlook or Office 365 desktop, try this:

  • Open Settings in the main Outlook window.
  • Select Play and activate cursor navigation.
  • Select individual mail to forward and delete the rest.
  • Add the recipient and tap Send.
  • Deleting the rest of the mail is optional but keeps things tidy. This ensures that the email you are forwarding is not lost in the chain and stands out enough to be read and understood quickly.

You can do something similar in Outlook for the web:

  • Open your Outlook inbox.
  • Select the Settings gear icon at the top right.
  • Select All Outlook Settings at the bottom of the slider.
  • Select Show emails as individual messages from the message organization.
  • Select Save at the top of the settings window.
  • Once set, you should be able to select the individual email from your inbox and forward it as you normally would. It wont include the other elements of the messaging chain, so it should be easy to understand and follow.

You have a similar forwarding option in the Outlook app, but I dont have an email channel to test.
