The abbreviation BCC stands for Blind Carbon Copy or Blind Courtesy Copy, and its a feature that helps you send an email to multiple email addresses. The term carbon copy comes from carbon paper used to make copies of original documents.

When you enter a recipient email address in the BCC field, that address receives a blind copy of the email. And the primary recipient of the BCCd mail will not be aware of the BCCd recipient.

But wait, what does that mean?In simpler terms, an address included in the BCC field is blind or hidden from every other email recipient. Although a BCCd recipient can see the direct recipient, they cant tell who else was BCCd in the email.

However, while your BCC recipient cant tell who else has been added, they will know that they were BCCd in the email.

Simple Steps To Create An Email Group In Outlook

Here we will show you how to create a group email in Outlook in two parts.

In Part 1 we will make a contact list of recipients and in Part 2, the process of sending group emails in professional way.

Part 1: Creating a CSV file and export

If you are using group email in Outlook, you need to make a CSV file of your contacts. Follow the below steps to do the same.

Step 1- Log into your Outlook account and click on the File menu, it will open a dialogue box as shown below

Step 2- Choose Open & Export > > Import/Export

Step 3- Click on Export to a file and Select Next

Step 4- Select Comma Separated Values and hit Next

Step 5- Click on Contacts and select the folder where you want to export it. Click Next to proceed

Step 6- Name the File and click Save. Your Outlook contacts will be saved as a CSV file in your system

Part 2: Sending Email Campaign

Heres a step-by-step guide on how to use the BCC field for sending an email in Gmail:

Note: The BCC method has serious limitations. If you want a far easier and reliable method, jump to this section.

Now on to the BCC method.

Step 1Open your Gmail account and click Compose to open up the Gmail compose window.

Step 2Add your subject line and email text.

Step 3Add the primary recipients email address of your email in the To line.

If you have multiple addresses in your distribution list, use a comma to separate multiple addresses from one another.

Once youve done that, click on the BCC button at the right end of the To address box.

Note: If you want to keep your primary recipients address confidential, you can use the undisclosed recipient method.

In this case, you include your own email address as an undisclosed recipient in the To field and all the recipients in the BCC field. Both of these are required fields when sending messages to undisclosed recipients.

Step 4Once you click the BCC button, you can add the address of each hidden recipient to your mail.

Note: While the primary recipient cant see who else is added, everyone in the BCC recipientlist will know that theyve been added as a BCC.

Step 5Click the Send button, and youre done you can now send an email to multiple recipients!
