How To Add Email Signup To Shopify

Customize Your Website’s Theme

Add an email signup landing page to your Shopify store

Alright, now let’s get our hands dirty and run through how to use Shopify themes to customize your site’s appearance.

To get started, click “Online Store” in the sidebar and then click “Themes.”

You can start customizing the pre-installed “Debut” theme or scroll down the page to choose a new theme. There are 3 options:

Remember, you can always change your theme later. Plus, if you want something particular, you can hire a Shopify Expert to help you customize your website.

Once you’ve installed your theme, click “Customize,” and Shopify will take you to the page editor.

The menu on the left lets you alter the layout with drag-and-drop modules. And there’s a drop-down menu at the top of the page this allows you to customize different website pages.

You can also access the theme’s settings at the bottom of the left sidebar to customize your store’s colors, fonts, and more.

Plus, if you want to get support or make more advanced changes like editing your site’s code or languages, click “Theme actions” at the bottom of the sidebar.

Essentials Of An Email Newsletter

Now, before you get to create your first Shopify newsletter, you may want to take a step back and think of what type of communication youâre trying to establish.

For example, there are two most common types of email newsletters ecommerce businesses use: promotional and content-based. Letâs see how they differ before we talk about how you can create an email newsletter for your Shopify store:

  • Promotional. Promotional newsletters specifically promote something you want to sell. When as many as 59% of consumers say that professional promotional emails will influence a buying decision, itâs clear that there is significant ROI to be earned.

  • Content-based. Content-based newsletters are the emails you send to engage your audience. Through content-based emails, you might promote your latest blog post, educate them about a new product or service, offer an ebook, or invite them to participate in a competition. Such emails are the ideal way to build relationships with subscribers and push them down the marketing funnel.

Another factor you want to consider is your email newsletter design.

You want to make your emails instantly recognizable. That means itâs important that you stick to your branding guidelines when it comes to the font, color theme, imagery, and tone of voice.

Finally, as a general tip, before sending your email, you should always ask yourself the following three questions:

1. What is the goal of your message?

2. Does the copy align with your CTA?

Decide Who Should Receive The Newsletter

You will also be able to choose the subscribers who will receive your newsletter. To do that, click the âToâ field and select which segment of your audience this newsletter will go to.

At this point, you can select whether you want to send this email to new or returning customers. However, Shopify Email also allows you to create more sophisticated audience segments based on such attributes as:

  • language
  • date of the last purchase
  • date of becoming a customer
  • and other filters

Once you choose the audience, enter the subject line of the newsletter and the preview text. Feel free to use this extensive collection of subject lines as a source of inspiration if you struggle to come up with the right words.

Getting Email Subscribers With A Signup Form

Use your Shopify theme

First, use newsletter sign-up forms and popups to build your Shopify mailing list.

Important: You need peoples consent to send them newsletters or any other kind of marketing emails.

Having their contacts for transactional purposes doesnt mean they agreed to email marketing they have to opt-in explicitly. And never buy email lists! Its the ecommerce equivalent of cold mailing, and is bad for your online store and email reputation.

Usually, people would sign up to accept marketing emails if you offer them added value for free. Deals and special offers are expected perks in exchange for an email address. Exclusive tips or content, quiz results, and access to a members-only zone on your site can also make casual visitors fill in a signup form. Learn more about increasing blog subscribers.
