How Does Email Tracking Work
Email tracking notifies you when any email you sent has been opened or clicked. Email tracking software places an invisible image pixel in your emails that can detect the exact time and date an email has been opened by a recipient.
We talk more about how to do this below, but first, let’s discuss why email tracking is beneficial.
Search Twitter With Google
This technique is as simple as typing in the Google search the following query:
twitter.com/username + keyword
Note that for username you will need to have the persons current Twitter handle. For keyword you can experiment with other relevant keywords such as contact, email, email at, etc.
The Pros And Cons Of This Method
Request a read receipt method is easy to implement. However, it doesnt work for all circumstances.
Considering that recipients need to confirm that they received an email, its tricky to use this method while doing cold outreach.
Completely cold prospects or people who dont know you well might not be interested in letting you know whether they read your email or not.
Besides that, in most email platforms, a recipient can opt-out of sending a read receipt, so theres no guarantee that youll get a receipt even though you requested it.
Asking permission with a pop-up might not be well perceived, but this method is more privacy-friendly since you ask consent for the tracking.
Besides that, this method may be the right solution for sending urgent messages to get a quick reaction from the recipient. This way you explicitly ask to provide feedback, highlighting the importance of such an email. For example:
- When you send a time-sensitive proposal to your prospects or clients, you want to make sure that they read your email before the offer expires.
- When you schedule an emergency meeting with your team, and want to know who has opened your email so that you can call those who missed it.
If you decide to request a read receipt from the recipients, make sure the situation is appropriate and urgent.

Why Is My Email Address Blacklisted
An email blacklist is a database with email addresses, IP addresses, and domain names that are known to send spam.
One of the most well-known email blacklists is the Composite Blocking List by Spamhaus. As explained on its website, the CBL lists IPs exhibiting characteristics which are specific to open proxies of various sorts and dedicated Spam BOTs which have been abused to send spam. Other prominent email blacklists include SpamCop, MultiRBL, SURBL, and Invaluement, just to name a few.
Email blacklists are used by everyone from service providers like Google and Microsoft to Internet Service Providers like Comcast and Verizon to prevent spam emails from entering their servers and annoying their customers.
There are many ways how an email address, IP address, or a domain name can end up on an email blacklist:
Use Twitters Advanced Options
Since sometimes people tweet their email addresses, you can search historical tweets to see if your target person has ever done it.
You can check it out using , which allows you to search for very specific information in selected Twitter accounts.
Lets try to find an email address of Product Hunt founder Ryan Hoover in this way.
All I need to do is to add a keyword
…and identify the Twitter username:
And thats it, I found Ryans email in 30 seconds in one of his tweets.
Another option of doing the same search is to enter this query into Twitters search box:

Use An Email Lookup Tool
One of the easiest ways to find an email address is to use an email lookup service. All you need to do is enter a persons name and/or a website, and the tool will search for the relevant address for you.
Use an email lookup service
While they can be incredibly useful, youre not guaranteed to get a successful result every time you use it. The free searches are limiting and the paid options can end up being quite expensive, especially if you dont get the addresses youre looking for.
The good news is that theres an almost endless list of email lookup tools on the web, so youve got lots of options to see what works for you.
Email lookup services all work in mostly the same way: you input a name, try to refine it down as much as possible, and the tool goes and finds the best email.
Having said that, there are a few different pricing options and types of tools available.
Here are a few of the most popular email lookup tools to get you started :

What To Do If Email Was Blacklisted

Its much faster to use an email blacklist checker than it is to manually check individual blacklist email sites, and blacklist checkers typically come with a plethora of other useful features to help you learn more about your email address and its status in the eyes of email and internet service providers.
Here are three public email blacklist checkers you should know about:

The whole point of email intelligence tools is to help you make your content and timing more relevant to recipients. Canned emails arent just impersonal, theyre also less effective. Use what you know about the recipients business and history of interactions with your company to target your content. If that first email isnt opened, stop there. No one needs an inbox cluttered with follow-up emails if they havent opened the first.
How To Find Out Who Sent Me Certified Mail Before I Go To Pick It Up
If someone sends you certified mail and you’re not at home to receive it, the letter carrier leaves a notification of the attempted delivery. You’ll take this form to the local post office to collect your item. The delivery note lists the unique tracking number for the mail piece. You can use this number to find out where the item was sent from, but you cannot see the sender’s details until you sign for the letter.
The post office will not tell you who sent a piece of certified mail. Otherwise, you might refuse to accept unpleasant mail such as jury duty notices, tax demands or a summons to appear in court.

Maybe The Email Was Sent But Didnt Make It To You
Email messages leave a trail as the travel from the sender to the recipient. This trail is visible in the Received email headers of the message as well as in the server logs at the senders email provider and your email provider. If you know some aspects of the message in question , you can ask your email service provider to search their logs to see if there is any evidence of such a message arriving to their systems. This will tell you if such a message ever made it to your email provider however, email providers typically can only search the most recent 1-2 weeks of logs with ease. So, if the message in question was from a while ago, your email server provider may not be able to help you .
If your email provider does not have any record of the message or can not search their logs, then you can ask the same question of the senders email provider. If they can provide records of such an email being sent through their system, that will also prove the email was sent.
The last thing you can do is have the sender look in his/her sent email folders for a copy of that message. If s/he has it, then that can indicate that s/he sent it and can be also used to perhaps see why you didnt get it . However, be wary. It can be easy to forge a message in a sent email folder, so I would not recommend using that, by itself, as court-worthy evidence that the message was indeed actually sent. And, even so, it does not prove that it ever made it to your email provider or your Inbox.

Peter Paul And Marys Email
Lets use a concrete example.
Peters address book includes entries for his friends, Paul and Mary. Paul and Mary have never met, have never exchanged email, and do not know each other they each just know Peter.
Peters machine becomes infected with malware of some sort, which collects information from his address book. The virus on Peters machine sends email with the virus to Paul, looking like it came from Mary. Paul may wonder who the heck this Mary person is and why shes sending him a virus, but she was never involved.
From Marys perspective, you can see how frustrating it would be to be accused of something you had nothing to do with and have no control over.
Spammers have also been known to use other sources of email addresses, including database breaches, harvesting email addresses from public webpages, or even purchasing lists of email addresses from one another.
Thus, the simple friend of a friend example I used with Peter, Paul, and Mary is just the tip of the iceberg. Its certainly not the only way your email address could show up on a forged From line.
Whats important is this: one way or another, spam messages lie about who the sender is.
What Are Email Headers
All emails carry extra information within them that specifies their routing data. Think of email headers as the virtual equivalent of the To and From address fields of a physical envelope.
And aside from the routing information, email headers may also contain other data like the date and the subject line.
If youre not familiar with email headers, dont worry, you may not have seen one yet. Most email clients nowadays dont typically show email headers by default.

Grow Better With Email Tracking
In the past, there was a lot of uncertainty around emailing. But with email tracking software, there doesn’t have to be. Email tracking can help you know exactly when your prospects open your emails and when to follow up.
Email tracking benefits both businesses and customers. With email tracking, businesses can navigate their inbox productively, communicate effectively, and ultimately build and maintain meaningful relationships. Customers can engage with emails without anticipating multiple follow-up emails or calls. This is why we built SalesHub to empower both sides of the email marketing process and help businesses grow better.
How Email Tracking Tools Work
Email tracking tools add an invisible image of one pixel inside the emails. The image is loaded when the recipient opens an email, allowing the sender to know when the email is opened.
Other information can be collected when the pixel is loaded, such as the browser or device used or the users location.

Who Uses Certified Mail
When mail is sent as a certified delivery, you have to sign to receive the item. Your signature, or that of an authorized agent, is proof that you received the mail. Law firms and government agencies typically use certified mail when they need a legally recognized proof of delivery, for example, when sending court papers, tax audit notifications or important contracts. There are dozens of reasons why someone may send you certified mail, not all of them bad. The signature operates as a type of receipt, so people often use certified mail when paying rent or sending money in settlement of an invoice.
Perform A Search With Target Keywords
Type in the name of the person whose email you are looking for and add such queries as email, contact, etc.
If the email address is published anywhere online, it will help you to narrow down the list and find only relevant results.
You can also experiment with adding other personal information to the queries such as position, previous companies, person worked for, city, etc.

Use Clean Email To Avoid Blacklisting
Clean Email is an inbox organizer that can automatically unsubscribe you from all unwanted subscriptions and remove entire groups of emails with a few clicks.
If youre often sending out emails in bulk, you want to keep your inbox as clean as possible to avoid accidentally including the mail addresses belonging to spammers, phishers, and other unwanted senders in your mail list.
Sadly, manual email management is so time-consuming that most people who dont use a software solution capable of organizing messages in bulk simply give up after a while. Thats a shame because the app works with all major service providers, and it has many useful features that make it easy to achieve and maintain Inbox Zero.
As weve already mentioned, you can use Clean Email to get rid of all unwanted subscriptions in bulk, even if they dont include any unsubscribe link. Thats because the app can intelligently recognize different kinds of messages and automatically group them into convenient bundles.
You can then apply familiar actions, such as remove, archive, or move, to entire bundles of emails, which can save you a lot of time and ensure that you never miss a message. Whats more, you can tell Clean Email to apply the same action automatically in the future.
