How Do I Access My Microsoft Exchange Email

Logging In With A Web Browser

How to Access an Exchange Server From Home Using Outlook : Using Microsoft Outlook

1

Open a new Web browser window on your computer.

2

Type the Web address for your Microsoft mail server in the address bar. The Web address is available from your network administrator if your business uses its own Microsoft Exchange server. If you use cloud-based email service from Microsoft, the URL will have been provided to you from Microsoft, such as “mail.office365.com” or “outlook.com.”

3

Enter your email address when prompted for an “ID” and then enter your password. Click the “Sign In” link. You will be logged in to the mail server and able to send and receive email from the browser’s window.

How To Find Your Microsoft Exchange Details

You can find out if you’re using an Exchange account by checking your Account Settings in Outlook. To do that, choose “File” and then click “Account Settings.” In the dropdown menu, click “Account Settings.” You’ll see a summary of your configured email accounts with an indication of which ones are using Microsoft Exchange.

In addition, you may be able to access your Exchange email in a web browser. Called Outlook Web Access , the link for this webpage is in Outlook’s account settings. At the top of the page, click the account dropdown and choose an Exchange account. You should see a link to access the account on the web.

As a general rule, as an end user you don’t need to know many details about how Exchange is configured to set it up or to use it. Your IT administrator should provide an email address and password to get started, you simply add the email address to Outlook and your email client should determine it’s an Exchange account and configure it automatically for you.

Exchange Server is behind the most popular email clients such as Outlook and Office 365. Whether you want to sync two Office 365 calendars, or sync two Outlook calendars what happens behind the scenes is that you sync two Exchange calendars, if your account is an Exchange account. 4.Synchronizing calendars, contacts, emails etc. via multiple domains and Exchange servers

Imagine this situation: youre working for company A but also for company B, both have their own Exchange servers leaving your email folders, contacts, calendars and notes separated into 2 accounts. This is the case of many consultants, external employees and even university professors who struggle to manage their multiple email accounts.

Which leads to some questions we get a lot: Is there any way of simply synchronizing two Exchange accounts?” or “How can I sync my two Exchange calendars? If you think about it, you only have to synchronize, somehow, two separate accounts from the same provider. Piece of cake, right? Well, not really, as you may already know.

iPhone contacts: Synchronize iPhone with Outlook contacts

Microsoft created Exchange Server for the enterprise-level management of email accounts and messages, calendars, contact databases, task lists and data storage. Log into your Exchange Server using the administrator username and password.

      Step 2

Open the “Active Directory Users and Computers” utility. Step 3

Locate the name of the server in the panel on the left-hand side of the screen. Click the “+” icon next to the server name to view its sub-folders. Click the “Users” folder to view the comprehensive list of accounts in the panel on the right-hand side of the screen.

The primary email address for your Microsoft account is what you use to sign into Windows and other Microsoft services. If youd prefer to use a different address than the one you signed up witheven a non-Microsoft addressits an easy change to make.

If youre using a Microsoft account to sign into Windows, youre not stuck using the account you signed up with. Maybe you originally created an Outlook.com address, but prefer to use your Gmail address instead. You could always revert to a local account on your PC and then change back to a Microsoft account using a new address, but that takes a bit of time, and youd need to do it on each PC where you sign in with that account. Fortunately, theres an easier way. Microsoft lets you create aliases, which are really just additional email addresses you can use to sign in to the same account. Then, you can change any of those aliases to be your primary address.

      How Microsoft Exchange Works

Microsoft Exchange relies on the use of an Exchange server a computer on which individual users’ Exchange accounts are configured. An organization can maintain its own Exchange server or rely on Microsoft to do that via the cloud using a Microsoft 365 account.

When you use a Microsoft Exchange account, email messages along with calendar information and other Outlook details are generally kept in sync between your Outlook client on a computer or mobile device and the Exchange server.

This most often happens using a technology called Exchange ActiveSync. ActiveSync keeps all the Exchange data synchronized between devices, so when email is replied to, deleted, or moved on your computer, for example, that change is immediately made on the Exchange server as well, and then synchronized with any other devices you might use, such as Outlook on a mobile device.

ActiveSync isn’t the only option, though an organization can choose to manage its email using IMAP or POP as well. IMAP is very similar to ActiveSync in that it keeps email messages in sync between the Exchange server and clients, though POP works differently it downloads email from the Exchange server to a single computer and does not keep the two devices in sync. It’s not commonly used for Exchange systems.
