Use Hierarchy To Direct The Eye
Having a strong hierarchy is a must for any design that uses type to communicate important information, and since your email signature is made up of important information, hierarchy is particularly important.
When it comes to designing your type, use scale, color, and font weights to visually signal to your email recipients which elements of your signature they should read first. Perhaps its the email authors name, or perhaps the brand/company name, either way, be sure to put this key piece of type in the top hierarchical position.
An example of a signature design with some strong hierarchy is this piece by Themesforce that scales the email authors name up so that it attracts the most attention. From there, pieces of type have been bolded and colored to signify importance and to help guide the eye through the design logically.
When deciding on which parts of your design to put in the forefront, dont try to highlight every other element in your signature, this will totally defeat the purpose. So, instead, choose your battles wisely. Decide which part of your signature you want noticed first and push that to the top of the hierarchical chain.

How To Create An Email Signature In Gmail
Your first step toward starting to utilize email marketing is to create an email signature. First, lets look at how to create an email signature in Gmail.
You can create a simple professional email signature by going into Gmails settings and then going into the Signature section. From there, you can use Gmails WYSIWYG editor solution to format your email signature. But you may find that this signature is a little lackluster.
Instead, you can download free email signature templates for Gmail or look up an email signature templates free download Gmail site. But be aware that most free email signature templates arent going to be polished and professional.
Gmail differs from Outlook in that Outlook has both a web-based platform and an on-premise platform. You can load the Outlook application and then go to File > Options > Mail > Signatures. You will be able to format and modify your email signature much like you would be able to format and modify a Microsoft Word document.

A huge thanks to Hubspot for creating this FREE for all of us! Yes, there are premium features, but there are several amazing template layouts. Hubspot allows you to put in all of your links, add your colors, and customize your fonts with email-friendly font sets.
They also help you with images by requiring you to connect them from an online link, meaning theyre more likely to show up properly and not get stripped by emails.
Hubspot allows you to copy and paste your signature directly into your email software, or you can even download the source file to upload. Theyre generous with not asking for any of your information for you to access your signature.

I do think it looks good, however, its busy. Also, seeing my face and logo over and over again in email chains ends up being distracting and cumbersome. Its professional for perhaps a first-time signature or a corporate setting, but ultimately to me feels unfriendly and intimidating.

Decide If You Need To Remove/replace Your Background
One of the more popular email signature features is the headshot, or a profile of your face and friendly grin. With that, one other popular measure is placing your photo within a frame or with a colored background.
So, if youve decided to feature your profile picture as the main graphical element, are you OK with the background of your photo or would you like to replace it?
If the latter, its extremely easy to replace your image background with Canva. The small problem is you need a Canva Pro account to be able to do so. Even so, the good news is you can sign up for a free 30-day trial to start.
Anyway, if youre at the point of wanting to remove your image background, simply select the image and then go to effects. From there, youll see the option for the background remover toolclick it, and wait a few seconds
Voila! You should now have your image without a background. I rarely run into an issue at this point, but if you need to do any additional touch up, you see the option to erase additional bits and pieces of the photo, or to restore anything that might have been removed on accident.
From there, now its the fun part in figuring out what kind of frame in which you want to feature your photo.
If you go to elements youll see the frames option near the bottom. Or, you can go ahead and just search frame in the search bar.
